“Commit yourself to lifelong learning. The most valuable asset you’ll ever have is your mind and what you put into it.”
Brian Tracy, American public speaker and bestselling author
As a child nutrition professional, you understand the importance of continuing education. You attend staff trainings, webinars and regional meetings throughout the year to keep your skills sharp. You may even attend state conferences, or SNA’s Annual National Conference (ANC) each year with a set of objectives:
- To discover new ways to improve your child nutrition operations
- To network with other school nutrition professionals
- To test out new products, and speak with your vendors face-to-face
What if I told you that you, as a PrimeroEdge customer, have access to an annual conference specifically for you? And, the cherry on top: you get to meet all of the above objectives (and more!) at this event! I’m talking about Edge Summit: the two-day PrimeroEdge event designed to help your child nutrition program reach new heights.
The history of Edge Summit
The idea of bringing PrimeroEdge customers together for a user group meeting came to fruition in 2010, as we held the 1st Annual PrimeroEdge User Group Meeting the day before ANC in Dallas. From 2010 – 2016, the event was marketed as the annual PrimeroEdge User Group Meeting, and PrimeroEdge customers and prospects from across the country were invited to attend.
Although our customers learned quite a bit and thoroughly enjoyed our annual user group meeting, there was something missing. All of the sessions revolved around our products – which was great, as our customers learned a great deal about getting the most out of their PrimeroEdge solutions. But our customers wanted more: more updates and general education sessions, more content, more opportunities for networking, more hands-on training. Thus, the idea for Edge Summit was born in 2016, after wrapping up that year’s PrimeroEdge User Group Meeting.
Edge Summit 2017
The 1st Annual Edge Summit was held March 6-7, 2017 at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott in The Woodlands, Texas. It contained some of the same themes and topics as our previous user group meetings, but took everything to the next level.
Day 1 began with insight from Dallas Taras, the Director of Product Management, about exactly what 2017 held for our company and our customers. Keynote speaker Troy Morrison, entrepreneur and owner of North Texas Bells, emphasized the importance of customer service and company culture in our industry. Our customers then hit the breakout sessions – to learn everything from how to take photos of their menu items to display on their digital menus, to a legislative update, to a look at PrimeroEdge behind-the-scenes.
After spending the day “climbing the Summit”, our attendees met us at Product Base Camp – an interactive session designed to get their hands on our latest innovations and devices. Throughout the day, attendees also visited our “Help Desk” to get quality one-on-one time with our Customer Care experts. The evening concluded with a cocktail hour and private dinner at Kirby’s Prime Steakhouse.
Our keynote speaker for Day 2 was Guinness World Record holder Calum Neff, who spoke about the importance of proper nutrition when it comes to achieving his own goals, as well as motivating students to achieve theirs. We also heard from Solutions Experts Amanda Freeman and Mark Stevenson about how to bridge generational gaps amongst those you work with and those you serve. We closed out the final day of the conference with an exciting prize giveaway.
What to expect at Edge Summit 2018
We took feedback from last year’s event and applied it to this year’s event to make it bigger and better. The 2nd Annual Edge Summit conference will be held March 8-9, 2018 at the JW Marriott in the Houston Galleria.
The theme of Day 1 is Innovation and Education. You’ll discover what new features and solutions will be available in the coming year, and learn more about our company infrastructure at PrimeroEdge. You’ll also hear from our keynote speaker, Jim McIngvale (also known as Mattress Mack), who will share his secrets to effective customer service. After lunch, you’re invited to pick your breakout sessions. There’s something for everyone this year – from managing your finances and inventory to the inside scoop on Administrative Reviews. You’ll end the day at Product Base Camp to chat with our Product Development team about the latest software solutions. Later that evening, you’ll be invited to join us for drinks and dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy.
The theme of Day 2 is Training. You’ll spend the day with our Customer Success experts, receiving hands-on training on PrimeroEdge Menu Planning, Reports, Inventory, and End of Year/Beginning of Year operations. If you have additional questions about any of the trainings, grab one of our Customer Success experts in one of our Q&A sessions. We’ll wrap up the day with our famous “Stump the Trainer” – a game show designed to see if you can “stump” Customer Success to win cool prizes! We’ll award a few amazing prizes – including tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (taking place the same weekend as Edge Summit) – before we send you on your way.
