2018 marked our largest user group meeting to date! The 2nd Annual Edge Summit conference was held March 8-9, 2018 in Houston, Texas. School nutrition professionals from districts all over the country joined us to hear exciting new announcements, receive product training, and get hands-on access to the latest PrimeroEdge products and features.
If you weren’t able to make it this year, hear are a few of the highlights from this year’s Edge Summit.
New Year, New Us
Dallas Taras, the Director of Product Management at PrimeroEdge, kicked off the event with the presentation New Year, New Us. He took the attendees through the history of PrimeroEdge – explaining how the company started with a simple POS software, then, through the years, transformed into an all-in-one school nutrition system.
At the end of the session, Dallas revealed the latest big thing: ExpressPoint with dynamic menu grids. Now, districts can eliminate creating their POS menu grids twice, and instead have their menus sync with their menu planning software. While PrimeroEdge has had an integrated back office solution for years, this will be the first time districts can sync their PrimeroEdge POS effortlessly with Menu Planning and Production!
Keynote Address: Mattress Mack
The keynote speech for Edge Summit 2018 was delivered by Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale – a widely-acclaimed entrepreneur, philanthropist and Houston legend.
Mack spoke on his experiences providing assistance to members of the community post-Hurricane Harvey, alluding to the many school nutrition staff members who sprang to action during the many U.S. natural disasters in 2017. He also referred to the school cafeteria as a “safe space”, as many children served each day may not know where their next meal, or even social interaction, may come from outside of school. His witty and inspiring speech received a standing ovation, and many customers have expressed that he will be hard to top as the keynote speaker next year!
With a focus on education and innovation, Edge Summit 2018 attendees spent Day 1 learning about a wide variety of child nutrition topics: from Administrative Reviews, to legislative updates, to inventory and financial management. Day 2 focused on product training, where users sat in training sessions with our Customer Success Team coaches, to dive deeper into their child nutrition software. Attendees learned what flexible menu planning is all about, how to optimize their inventory, getting the most out of PrimeroEdge’s advanced reporting capabilities, and what to do to prepare for the end of the year/beginning of the year in their operations.
Product Base Camp
Product Base Camp, the conference’s interactive activity, was a fan favorite. Here, attendees had the chance to get up close and personal with the latest updates, features and products from our Product Management and Product Development teams. Attendees got their hands on ExpressPoint to experience its new user interface, saw how IntelliScan could lesson the burden of inventory management with barcode scanning, and publish their menus to digital menu boards with SchoolCafé TV. They also had opportunities for face time with several subject matter experts, to answer all their burning questions.
